Sustainable environmental work and FSC-certified materials in our stairs
Our factory is located in Norsjö, in the middle of a forest landscape that has shaped our view of wooden craftsmanship since our inception in 1923. Our commitment to the environment permeates every aspect of our operations. By following rational and environmentally friendly production methods, we can ensure that we always do our best to contribute to a sustainable industry.
We are constantly working to improve our environmental work, whether it concerns production, materials or products. Whichever staircase you choose from our range, you can be sure that it is a good environmental choice. We select wood species that come from forests, plantations and suppliers that work for sustainable forestry. As part of our environmental work, we only use FSC-certified wood for our products.
The production of a lacquered staircase generates an average of 32.4 kg of carbon dioxide emissions, according to SP Trätek's analysis and environmental declaration. This is equivalent to driving about 160 km in a family car. However, unlike car fuel, wood is carbon neutral because it is a renewable raw material. When it comes to printed matter and paper, for example, we try to work with FSC-certified suppliers as much as possible.
Ecolabelling for stairs
The Nordic Ecolabel works to help companies switch to more sustainable production. This includes, among other things, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting the ecosystem from harmful chemicals. In order to obtain Nordic Ecolabel certification, the materials must be reviewed and approved. Many of our stairs are registered in the Nordic Ecolabel's house builder portal. Basta® is a system based on concentration limits and reporting requirements, with the aim of phasing out hazardous substances from construction and civil engineering products. Criteria regarding, among other things, health and environmental hazards, renewability and environmental effects are assessed at the product level. Many of our products are registered in the Basta system.
Most of our products are also assessed in Sunda Hus and Byggvarubedömningen. We are also a member of Repa and the Norwegian equivalent Grøn Punkt.
Efficient transport for reduced climate impact
We have efficient transport logistics, resulting in lower emissions. We are actively working to streamline transport logistics to reduce climate impact. By optimizing transport routes, using fuel-efficient vehicles and coordinating deliveries, we minimize emissions. Our focus on sustainable transport solutions is an important part of our strategy to contribute to a better environment.
Staircase recycling
Your used staircase can also be recycled, mainly through energy recovery. Wood contains a lot of energy and everything can be recycled. Approximately two percent of the staircase consists of metal in the form of fittings, screws, etc. which can be completely recycled. A full 94 percent of a regular staircase consists of renewable energy.
